As the anglers got ready to fish the 8th T.S.B.qualifier on Bay Lake in Latchford this past weekend
no one expected that Dave LaFontaine from Earlton and Steve McLean from Tomstown would win again.
The water was unusaly high due to the heavy rains and an extra log being put in the dam because of work
being done down stream at the Hydo dam, plus the overcast weather made the tea stained water even darker.
These two factors worked right into the pattern Dave and Steve put togeather as they tryed different things
in the first 2 hrs of the Tournament.The team managed to get 13.68lbs and had no idea that the weight would
be good enough to take 1st place, but had no problem excepting the trophys and cash anyway.
Mike Verge and Darryl Dumas from Kirkland Lake have been steadly coming to the scales with good weights,
and today was no different as the team come in with a weight of 1194lbs, which gave the team the 2cd place
finish and cash and trophys to go along with it.
North Bay has a lot of good anglers, and the team of Brian Van Mierlo and Brian Van Mierlo Jr. proved they can
keep up to the boys on any lake by coming in with 11lbs. even, to take 3rd place.
Big fish of the day would go to another one of the North Bay teams, as Marc LaFontaine and Doug Legault caught
a nice Bay Lake smalli that weighed 4lbs.
The next Tournament will be Aug8th in New Liskeard on Lake Temiskaming,so see you there.
