North Bay team Win on Bay Lake
July 10th
Most people cant see getting up early in the morning, in the rain, to go fishing,"but" most Bass Tournament anglers know
one thing for sure, you cant catch them if your not on the water. Bass do not care if its raining, and besides, you have to
wash some time,,"right". So as we pull into the Tournament site on Bay Lake at 5.45am in the rain, here are teams just
waiteing to get out there after those big ones, or little ones, no matter, they all just want to fish because thats what
we love too. There are teams from Mattawa, Kirkland Lake, Ottawa, and off in the distance I see these 2 old guys coming
out of the rainy mist, wet coats hanging down and for a moment I thought I saw a peg leg,and heard a ;rrrrrr; as a Sea Gull
flu by over head, but it was only Bruce Rodgers and Roger Rousseau from North Bay carrying his fishing rod to the boat
just past me. Man,,for a moment there I thought old DAvy Jones was coming for me .LOL.
We have all known Bruce and Roger for many years, and you never know when Bruce and Roger are going to pull that old rabbit
out of the hat trick, and come in with a good weight. "No" people they did not really use a rabbit, because we do not
allow live bait in the Tournaments, and they are to hard to cast anyway. What I mean is they used something that no one
else used or used it in a different way than everybody else. What ever they did it worked for them today because the team
managed to bring 12.90lbs to the scale for the 12st place win, cash, plaques, and the bragging rights for Bay Lake.

A lot of anglers just can't get time off work or can't afford to travel all over fishing Bass Tournaments, and sometimes
thats a good thing for us, because if we had to contend against these next two anglers on every Lake I dont think I could
take the pressure. Andrew Sconfeldt and Dennis Breen have what it takes to be a great anglers on any Lake. They can find
Bass in a Lake thats not suppost to have fish in it, and figure out how to make them bite. They got more energy than a
hornets nest, and when they start to fish, they mean business. To day the team did just that and came to the scales with
11.72lbs of Smallmouth to take the 2cd place spot.
Some day you might just see these two young fellas fishing all the events, and when they do, I think you we see thier names
on the leader board even more.

Now everybody knows that the young guns from Kirkland Lake have been trying to dethrown the, two old, 2 time, Angler of the
Year guys, for some time now, and that they are good anglers, but just didn't seem to have what it took. Well this year the
team of Mike Verge and Darryl Dumas are hammering down and putting it togeather. The team have been in the top three spots
in most events, and once again the team took a 3cd place finnish with 11.32lbs. The boys might just do it this year, but as
they say she.s a slippy slope to the top, so be very carefull,LOL.

The Mattawa boys did not want to be left out of all the fun and cash at the event so Barry Bennett and ken Loya Jr. brought
in a nice 3.16lb smallmouth to take the big fish prize for Bay Lake.

Rounding off the top 5 would be.
Monty and Eric Cumming who just got back from Mexico at 2am in the morning and decided to do the Tournament 3hrs later.
We would like to thank Linsy McLean from the M.N.R. who is the coordinator for the Temiskaming Stewardship Council to
stop Aquatic Invasive Species from spreading to other Lakes by teaching anglers how to properly wash and protect thier
boats from hitchhikers that are in some of our infested Lakes already. You can get all the information you need anytime
by calling your nearest M.N/R. office near you

Next Tournaments are in Mattawa on July 16th and Lake Nipissing out of Hunters Bay July 17th.
