Willick & Hyatt take 1st place on Lake Nosbonsing
On June 25th 29 teams from across Ontario backed their boats into Lake Nosbonsing to fish the 4th Temiskaming Bass Series
Qualifier of the year sponsored by Power Sports & Marine. Anglers know that some days you just can’t seem to stop the rain
no matter how hard you pray, as good old Mother Nature opened up the sky’s and down she came.
One thing that people are always amazed of is how dedicated Bass anglers really are, because no matter what the weather
is like, or what Lake it is, they are bond and bent that they will find those fish no matter what. Young anglers,
lady anglers and yes, even older sophisticated anglers like a few of us, never say never when we get a chance to go fishing,
especially if it’s a Bass Tournament.Last year it was a couple of old guys from up north that won on Lake Nosbonsing , but this year the home town team of
Ray Wilick and Rob Hyatt said they had to defend their home water, so the young wipers put the pedal to the mettle and fished
like the devil was after them, and they managed to find 15.83lbs of Smallmouth which would hold up for the 1st place plaques
and the $913 to go along with it. These two boys are great fishermen but, they had better sharpen their hooks for next year,
because (WE’LL BE BACK.)

If you think rain and new water scares husband and wife teams think again, because Sue and Des Connelly from Temagami
would have no problem taking 2cd place with a combination of Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass that weighed in at 14.30lbs.
Sue said the plaques are nice but the $548 was just as great because they beat us. MMMM what does she mean.
This is only the 3rd year the team has fished here, and for a couple that never fished for Largemouth before I can see
that we will have to keep our eye on them.

It’s always a pleasure to see young anglers coming out to fish in Tournaments, because these young anglers are the ones
who are the future of our fishery, and what they learn from their fathers and other anglers about the sport of fishing
in these Tournaments just can’t be taught in any school. Rob LaFramboise from Thunder Bay and his son Cooper who has
decided to fish Bass Tournaments , obviously made the right call, as the team came in with 12.44lbs to take the 3rd place
trophies and the $365 cash back to Thunder Bay. The team also got another $290 for the Big Fish Award by weighing in a
nice Largemouth Bass which weighed 4.84lbs.
All these young anglers starting to fish is a great thing , but they are starting to scare me because they are getting
better and better each year.

Rounding out the top 7 where.
4th Sam & Joel Lauzon with 11.70lbs
5th Howard & Mike Gifford with 11.10lbs
6th Ben Sabouri & Phil Moore with 10.90lbs
7th Don & Shane MacDonaldwith 10.40lbs

Tomorrow Trout Lake , and just maybe some sun.
